With the LA Fashion District situated alongside the community of Skid Row, Dolan Clothing's mission to serve the homeless became clear. Did you know LA County has the 2nd highest population of those experiencing homelessness in the nation at nearly 59,000, and unofficially estimated over 100,000, 75% unsheltered? The city of Los Angeles’ population of unhoused neighbors has increased 16% over 2018. This includes over 5,000 children under the age of 18. Our goal is to build awareness for this cause and continue bringing this much needed service to our neighboring communities. We have a motivated team who runs the day-to-day operations. Our first year growth plan is to operate 3-5 days a week at multiple locations, and later as we grow, our mission is to expand and reach other communities across the country. The truck is outfitted with 5 washer/dryer sets and operates for 6 hours a day, multiple days a week with the potential to help 4,000-6,000 in need within a year.
“Clean clothing is an essential part of healthy hygiene and overall self-esteem. The Laundry Truck LA aims to restore a bit of dignity and hope to our local homeless communities” - Jodie Dolan, founder of The Laundry Truck LA
1ST YEAR FUNDING PROGRESS:
Together, we’ve met our goal to bring this service to life, but we still need $40k in funding to continue reaching those in need for the remainder of the year. Your donations, voice & role in this journey are so appreciated!
